Sports Fan Oral Histories

With students in his 3000-level Spectators and Fans seminar at Manhattanville University, Seth has created the Manhattanville University Sports Fan Oral History Collection, housed electronically at the Manhattanville University Library. The collection is a series of undergraduate-conducted oral history interviews with local senior citizens who discuss their experiences as sports fans throughout their lives. The impetus for the project stems from the relative dearth of primary source material on fan experiences—a void Seth became very aware of while conducting his own research. The first set of oral histories was conducted in the fall of 2023 and subsequent sets will be added each time the Spectators and Fans course runs.
